Who Should Attend?

This course gives you the knowledge and skills to provide first aid to children and infants (babies) when they get injured.

Prerequisites

You must be physically able to carry out the CPR and recovery position. We use an audio and visual presentation, with handouts and practical activities.

Location

Our one-day Emergency Paediatric First Aid courses are held at our Training Centre in Retford, Nottinghamshire and can be used toward your CPD.

Course Content

On completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:
  • Assess an emergency and take control
  • Deal with a child or baby who is choking
  • Deal with an unconscious child or baby who is breathing normally and put them in the recovery position
  • Deal with an unconscious child or baby who is not breathing normally and apply CPR
  • Deal with minor injuries (small cuts & grazes, bruises, burns & scalds, eye injuries, splinters and more)
  • Deal with a child or baby who is having a seizure
  • Deal with wounds, bleeding and shock
  • Put a suitable first aid kit together
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of an Emergency Paediatric First Aider
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator
