Abrasive Wheels Training

Abrasive Wheels Training is designed to teach you the safe way to handle abrasive wheels. Nearly half of all accidents involving abrasive wheels are due to an unsafe system of work or operator error.

Who Should Attend?

The Abrasive Wheels training course is aimed at anyone who selects, mounts or uses abrasive wheels. Training can count towards your CPD.

Training Method

We use an audio and visual presentation, with handouts. There are no practical activities.


Our half day Abrasive Wheels training can be delivered to your site or you can attend one of our friendly open courses in Retford, Nottinghamshire.

Course Content

The following occupations might need training:
  • Building maintenance managers
  • Chemical plant workers
  • Construction and maintenance workers
  • General builders or those concerned with maintenance
  • General repairs/handyman
  • Joiners
  • Telecommunications workers
Different wheels will have different properties and characteristics suitable for particular tasks. They also have different weaknesses and can pose different risks and hazards in handling and use. For this reason, it’s important that you always select the right tool for the job and use it with the right machinery. This training advises on precautions you can take to prevent accidents in the use of abrasive wheels, injury resulting from either wheel breakage or contact with a running wheel, broken down in to the following:
  • Accident prevention
  • Correct storage and maintenance of wheels
  • Regulations including the Health & Safety at Work act
